What is D.I.S.C. Model of Human Behavior?
Over 2400 years ago, scientists and philosophers began to recognize differences in human behavior that seemed to follow a pattern. In the early 1900’s, Dr. William Marston developed the lie detector test which is still in use today. Dr. Marston theorized that people are motivated by four intrinsic factors, which he defined as four distinct model types. The DISC model types are composed of observable behavior characteristics or traits. The traits show a pattern of how we act. We give value to these actions but DISC is not designed to measure our values. DISC is a valuable instrument that helps us understand our own behavior patterns as well as others around us.
What are your chances of connecting well with another person? On average, two people have about a 40% chance of experiencing a good personality match based on how their personality styles naturally fit together. What that means is two people are likely have to overcome a built-in challenge in relating well with one other. However, if they understand each other’s personality styles, success is close-by. Personal and business successes are built on effective communication with others.
